Grants Coordinator
Darwin | Part time 0.6 to 0.8 FTE + 12% super + salary packaging


NJA-Marleya Cultural Leaders and Justice Group partners with Aboriginal leaders, families and communities to support safer, stronger and more connected futures. The organisation works closely with remote communities and government to deliver programs that reflect cultural values and community direction. Its staff are committed to building trust, honouring culture and supporting long term positive outcomes.

In this role you will manage the full lifecycle of grants and contracts. Your work will ensure that funding aligns with community needs and strategic goals and that applications, reporting and acquittals are prepared to a high standard. You will support internal teams and work closely with community members and funding bodies to deliver accurate submissions that demonstrate impact. The position is based in Darwin and includes travel to Maningrida when required to support community engagement and planning.

Key responsibilities
  • Manage Nja-marleya’s community grants program with the Local Community Board
  • Oversee contract management, including variations, extensions and renewals for existing grants.
  • Work with the CEO to match funding opportunities with organisational and community priorities.
  • Lead the planning, coordination and preparation of funding proposals.
  • Support staff to prepare data, project logic and financial information for applications.
  • Identify and track grant opportunities across local, Territory and Commonwealth sources.
  • Maintain digital systems to track deliverables, reporting requirements and financial records.
  • Prepare clear progress reports and financial acquittals with the Finance team.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with funders, consultants and community partners.
 
Ideal profile
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or suitable related experience.
  • Minimum three years of experience in grant writing and contract management.
  • Demonstrated success securing government or philanthropic funding.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal organisations or in remote or regional communities.
  • Strong written communication, planning and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work respectfully across cultures and build trust with diverse stakeholders.
  • Confidence using digital grant management and finance systems.
  • Capacity to travel to Maningrida when required.

The applicant may be based in Maningrida (note that housing is not provided with the role) or in Darwin, with the ability to travel to Maningrida as required. Other base locations within Australia may be considered for the right candidate.
